Grand Theft Auto VI is easily one of the most anticipated video game releases in history, and PlayStation 5 owners are eager to know how much they will need to pay at launch. With game development costs rising and current-generation software prices shifting, understanding the price tiers and available packages helps players plan their budget effectively. Here is a detailed breakdown of what to expect regarding pricing and available versions for Sony's flagship console.
Base Pricing for the Standard Edition on PS5
The Standard Edition of GTA 6 on PS5 is priced at $79.99 for both digital and physical releases. This reflects the broader industry movement toward an $80 price point for premium AAA blockbuster titles. Standard purchases grant complete access to the full story campaign featuring dual protagonists Jason and Lucia across the state of Leonida.
Players who pre-order the standard package before launch also gain access to pre-load options and special pre-order digital incentives. These bonuses typically include exclusive cosmetic packs and short-term access to GTA+ membership perks. Standard buyers can also upgrade their version later on if they choose.
What to Expect from the Ultimate Edition
For players seeking a expanded day-one experience, Rockstar is offering an Ultimate Edition priced at $99.99. This tier includes everything in the standard package along with exclusive in-game assets, bonus vehicles, and custom weapon skins. It also grants access to specialized mod shops and additional player properties across Vice City.
The $20 price difference between standard and ultimate tiers gives completionists early access to gameplay shortcuts without splitting the core storyline. Players who prefer to unlock content naturally through active gameplay may find the base version to be the more cost-effective option.
Physical Copies and Pre-Order Considerations
Physical boxed copies of Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 do not contain a physical disc. Instead, the retail package provides a digital redemption code that downloads the game files directly to your console's internal storage. This approach allows physical buyers to utilize pre-loading while ensuring access to essential updates.
Pre-ordering any edition grants access to the Vintage Vice City Pack, which features classic vehicles and retro cosmetic items. Choosing between editions ultimately depends on how much initial in-game bonus content you want to access when entering Leonida for the first time.
